This is the entry-level of the Sheriff’s Records Specialist and is distinguished from the Sheriff’s Records Supervisor, which supervises and performs specialized support activities requiring extensive knowledge and experience in the area of assignment.
- Performs technical support functions required to research and process law enforcement records within the Sheriff’s Office assigned to Substations, County jail facilities, or Records
- May include: interacting with incarcerated persons, criminal database verification, and providing assistance to the public and other branches of law enforcement
- May be required to work any shift, weekends, and holidays, and may be required to work overtime and in outlying County areas
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 2 years of clerical experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skills to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
- Certification of Typing/Keyboarding speed of 45 net wpm within the last 2 years
- Must pass a written exam
- Must be willing to work in Lamont
- Candidates must indicate their willingness to work in Lamont, or their application will be rejected. Candidates MUST be willing to travel to this location
Salary
- $3,361.00 – $4,016.00 Monthly

This is a continuous recruitment position.
This is the third level of the Sheriff’s Records classification series. The Sheriff’s Records Unit Supervisor is distinguished from the Sheriff’s Records Supervisor by its full supervisory responsibility. Incumbents perform specialized support functions requiring in-depth knowledge and experience in the Records Section and provide direct support to high-level management.
- Plans, organizes and supervises records staff
- Performs highly technical and specialized administrative work within the Sheriff’s Office assigned to Substations, County jail facilities, or Records
- May be required to work any shift, weekends, and holidays, and may be required to work overtime and in outlying County areas
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 4 years of progressively responsible clerical experience, including 2 years as a Sheriff’s Records Supervisor OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
- Certification of Typing/Keyboarding speed of 50 net wpm within the last 2 years
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License may be required upon appointment for some positions

Job Description
This is a continuous recruitment position.
- Lays out, cuts, fits and joins lumber to construct the wooden framework for a variety of structures
- Erects sheathing for walls and roofs; repairs and replaces materials used for walls, ceilings, and roofs
- Inspects buildings to determine needed repairs and order needed materials
- Hangs doors and installs window sashes; repairs and adjusts doors and door closers

- Installs, maintains and repairs plumbing, water and sewer systems in county buildings and facilities
- Installs, maintains and makes minor repairs to septic systems, water heaters, pumps, heat exchangers, air handlers and other plumbed appliances and equipment
- Installs wash basins, urinals, toilet bowls and toilet tanks and other plumbing fixtures
